Churchwarden Brenda’s February Notes

May I wish you all a very happy New Year?

In December, our services started with Christingle led by Revd. Mark Rodel dressed again as the Christingle. We were joined by members of the school choir from Pierrepont Gamston together with members of their families and also by some families of children who had been baptised at St. Edmund’s over the past 2 years. The service was enjoyed enormously by both the young and the young at heart!!

Later that week St. Edmund’s was the venue for two organisations’ Carol Services. Our Nine Lessons and Carols service was well attended as were our Festal Communion Services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We celebrated our last wedding of 2016 on 29 December, and wish Judith and Andrew every happiness in their future together.

Our New Years Day Mattins service, incorporating our traditional Bell Ringers’ service was affected by the virus that has been doing the rounds and therefore fewer people than usual were able to attend. I hope you have managed to avoid it and if not, then you are well on the road to recovery.

The PCC had its first meeting of the New Year, setting out work that will need to be done and also our ‘social calendar’.  Please see “Dates for your Diary”!

Please keep in your thoughts and prayers Richard and Rae Cumberland and Elizabeth and Robin Brackenbury.
